MONDAY, JUNE 8: Final Drawing

 Your final assignment for this school year is about giving advice to incoming sixth grade students for next year. Your assignment can be in the form of a drawing, a drawing with words or word art. The lesson is in the file with today’s date, June 8. You will need paper and a pencil and whatever coloring supplies you have at home. Have fun!

MONDAY, JUNE 1: Observational Drawing
This week's assignment is to go outside and create an observational drawing. The lesson is in the power point file with today's date, June 1. Please read through the entire power point presentation and look at the examples. You will need a sketchbook (or paper and something to lean on) and a pencil. Have fun and enjoy the outdoors, providing the weather is nice.

MONDAY, MAY 18: Quarantine Blues Drawing
This week's assignment is to create a drawing about what you miss most from being in quarantine. The lesson is in the file with today's date, May 18. Please read through the directions first. You will need a sketchbook/drawing paper, a pencil and whatever coloring supplies you have. Be creative and have fun!!

MONDAY, MAY 11:
Aluminum Foil Sculpture
This week you will be working with the element of form and creating an aluminum foil sculpture. The lesson is in the power point file with the date of May 11. Please read through the entire power point first. There are links to videos that show you how to create your sculpture, so please watch them. You will need aluminum foil and scissors for this project. Be creative and have fun!

MONDAY, MAY 4:
Color Scheme Design
This week's assignment is a review of color schemes. The lesson is in the power point with the date of May 4. Please read through the entire power point before starting. You can use any type of paper with crayons, colored pencils, pastels, paint or construction paper to collage. You can even create the design on a computer using a drawing program, Word or Power Point. Please take your time and do not rush...this does not have to be completed in one sitting.

MONDAY, APRIL 27:
Superhero Drawing
I want to thank those of you that turned in your still life drawings. You guys did a great job!!

Today’s assignment is to create your own superhero drawing. The directions are in the file with today’s date, April 27. Please read through the entire handout before starting your drawing. You will need paper, a pencil and coloring supplies.


MONDAY, APRIL 20:
Value Drawing Review

You will be creating a value drawing of a still life. The lesson file is posted in the document container on the bottom of this page with today's date. You can review or print out slides if needed. You will need paper and pencil to complete this drawing. If you have any questions, send me an email. Finished drawings should also be sent to my email. Have fun!

 The standards that were covered for Quarter 3 are as follows: 6.1 Sketchbook Drawings, 6.2, 6.8, 6.8.2 Ceramic Snowman and Glazing, 6.8.2, 6.2 3-D Paper Mask, 6.5.1 Color Schemes and Color Wheel Painting and the project we left off with 6.7, 6.5.15 Still Life Drawing with Value.


The sixth grade Art curriculum emphasizes 'exploration' using the Elements of Art as a framework. Students will explore various 2-D and 3-D media using expressive and technical approaches. In addition to their art production, students will become familiar with specific artists and styles of art. Students will also learn to express their thoughts about Art, as well as describe their own work through artist statements.

The following units will be covered during the nine week Art course. However, the times/length of units are approximate and classes may be affected due to holidays/vacations, inclement weather and field trips. 
SCULPTURE: 3-D Paper Masks (6 days), Ceramics/Clay (10 days), DRAWING: Sketchbooks (6 days), Gesture (2 days), Drawing with Value (5 days), Perspective (3 days), PAINTING: Color Mixing( 6 days), Painting Project (6 days).
